At Pop Riley's cafe in Panama, Pop's daughter Connie, who is a dancer and singer, and her unambitious husband Chick Rollins laze about in the heat between rehearsals. One evening John Bradley, the head of the ABC radio station, visits Pop's cafe and is introduced to "Miss" Riley. Although John indicates that the chances for success on the radio are minimal, he invites Connie to visit him in New York.
