"A true story of love and courage."

Elmo Zumwalt Jr. (Karl Malden) had a tough battle with disease as a child, but he persevered and managed to follow in his father's footsteps - Elmo Zumwalt III (Keith Carradine) - at the military academy. Both went to Vietnam, and as an officer his father was responsible for using the chemical weapon 'agent orange'. Years later, the son gets cancer and his father wants to help him with his remaining life as best as possible.
