The dark days of World War II provide the backdrop to the story behind the rise and fall of Il Duce: Benito Mussolini, the fascist Italian dictator. The story focuses on the relationship with his son-in-law Ciano, who endangers the family with his anti-Nazi ideas, and Mussolini's daughter Edda, who stands between her husband and her father.
