Ben Montgomery (Martin Balsam) is a lonely elderly person who tries to keep busy in a world he is no longer a part of. He takes a part-time job at a youth rehabilitation center. There he meets the incorrigible delinquent Robin Williams (Mackenzie Phillips). The two lost souls try to give meaning to their lives together.
