Mei Ren Cao plot

Summer 1974, at the end of the Cultural Revolution: Xingyu (Qi Shu) is a member of the Chinese People's Army; its unit is made up of intellectuals sent to the countryside to reclaim China's dense forests. However, she tries to get leave to return home and care for her ailing father. On the way back from the trip home, she encounters a rebellious intellectual, Simeng. The two fall in love and get into a forbidden and passionate romance.
