Manik is a lonely middle-aged man. Contact with the outside world consists of very minimal exchanges. He also does his work as a civil servant and home teacher of literature without passion. He does feel a connection with the dozens of plants on his roof. When his father dies, the landlord asks him to leave the property as soon as possible.
