Mandala plot
Based on Song-dong Kim's controversial Korean book. Pobun is a young man who has just graduated from university. He has just broken off with his girlfriend Sookwan to become a monk. In the bus he meets the old monk Jisan. At a roadblock, Jisan is arrested for not carrying his ID card. Pobun intercedes for him with the police and the two men travel together for a while. The old Jisan turns out to be one of the most unconventional Buddhists. He drinks alcohol, he eats meat and is far from celibate. Pobun is shocked but also fascinated because Jisan seems to be closer to "enlightenment" than anyone he has ever met.
