Man on a Tightrope plot
"It's true! The stranger-than-fiction story that screams with SUSPENSE!"
Karel Cernik is the leader of a group of Czechoslovak circus performers, who have been performing in Eastern Europe for years. When Czechoslovakia falls under Communist rule, the proud and independent Cernik no longer feels free to continue the circus under this Communist regime and considers quitting. In addition, many of his circus performers are drafted into the army. When Cernik is also forced to include communist propaganda in his program, he plans to stay behind as a refugee during a planned performance in West Germany. However, one of his circus performers turns out to be a communist spy.
