Maldone plot

Maldone is a canal worker who has turned away from his family. He falls in love with a gypsy girl, but when his brother dies, he is called back to run the estate. He returns and leads the life of a landowner. He eventually marries the daughter of another landowner, but he remains restless and does not feel happy.
