As in some of his other films, Ozon also signals a "problem" in contemporary society: the desire of some young people to get rich as quickly as possible at any cost. Isabelle has an emotionless first experience with sex upon losing her virginity. However, she learns via the internet that she can earn a lot of money with her body in a short time. Isabelle gets to work routinely. Characteristic for the atmosphere of the film is that her younger brother does not see anything abnormal in his sister's behaviour. It all goes without saying until Isabelle is confronted with the flip side of the coin. Only then does she realize that she is actually doing it wrong: “Je me sentais sale.” The meeting with Georges' widow is the proverbial icing on the cake.

In one of his better films, director Ozon once again uses variegated character drawings, in which those of the parents are not very convincing. In addition to the captivating story, the acting is also excellent. Certainly that of Marine Vacth, but she is perfectly cast in this sad history with her ever sad and veiled look. An actress to keep an eye on.

My first Ozone movie. I thought it was an interesting movie. Well acted, well written. The film is divided into 4 parts, which are named after the seasons. I don't really know if it needs further meaning beyond the passage of time. Very intriguing how we look for the "why" throughout the film. It remains very suggestive.

Isabelle suddenly seems to change completely. She doesn't care, she wants to earn money in an easy but dangerous way. This while her family is doing well financially. She seems really cold. Everyone wonders why she has become this way. I'm breaking my head on this myself.

Marine Vacth takes off several times. I always think it's a plus if this is possible. This definitely takes the film to a higher level. I found Ozon's style very warm and that contrasts sharply with the icy Isabelle exudes. A pleasant introduction to this director.
