Malavoglia plot
Portrait of the fortunes of a fishing family. At the head of the family is the authoritarian and dignified patriarch who deeply respects the sea as the place to which he and his ancestors owe their lives. For his daughter, the ocean means fear and tragedy, and she constantly fears for her husband's safety. The children see fishing as a drying source of income and are looking for work elsewhere. And then there are the daughters and the girlfriends, everyone has their own relationship with the sea. The family boat is called Providenza (Providence) and while she is the main source of income for the family, she is also a symbol of their unspoken despair.
