Madness of Youth plot

After evading the authorities, Jaca Javalie goes to the house of the wealthy Theodore Banning, where he claims to be a man of magic who learned his skills in India. He demonstrates his talent by bringing peace to the Bannings' home. In reality, he plans to rob Banning's private safe. When he attempts the robbery, he is stopped by a guest who promises to say nothing in exchange for a share of the loot.
