Marie is a worker in a spinning mill. Her husband Aldo is a miner. He fled Italy from fascism. When they receive their paid leave as a result of the victory of 'Le Front Populaire' in the elections, they go on holiday to the sea by bicycle for two weeks. Then her husband goes to the army.
