Ljeto u Zlatnoj Dolini plot
Fikret Varuba would have been a perfectly average 16-year-old boy from Sarajevo, had it not been for an unusual event that happened to him. At his father's "Dzhenasia" (traditional Muslim funeral), he finds out that his father was deeply indebted to Hamid, a man Fikret hadn't seen before and only now met. The total amount of debt is considerable and Hamed demands that Fikret pay off his father's debts. This means great disgrace to the family and they are publicly pilloried. Fikrit thus decides to 'buy back' his father's soul. In order to repay the money and save the honor of his father and his family, he retains his dignity and travels to the real world; Sarajevo, a world ruled by post-war chaos, corruption, misery and bitter poverty.
