Liefdesgasten plot

“Liefdesgasten” is a drama about Harry Schoenings, a potato farmer from Limburg and a gifted clarinetist in his spare time, who traveled to Poland a few years ago to meet women. There he made the acquaintance of Elisabietha, to whom he is indeed married. But the marriage did not bring what both expected. Elisabietha, lonely and never fully accepted by Harry's family, goes along with the Polish guest workers to cut asparagus, much to Harry's liking. However, he cannot prevent his wife from having an affair with the young Marek, whom she also takes in with her, and thus with Harry.
