Liborio plot
The story begins with a poor peasant and ends with a popular movement. During a hurricane that ravages the south of the Dominican Republic in 1908, Olivorio ('Liborio') Mateo disappears without a trace. He is presumed dead by his family and fellow villagers when he suddenly stands in front of them again, returning from heaven with a mission. From that moment on, his prophecies and healing gifts brought him a growing group of followers, with whom he went into the mountains to found a commune in complete freedom.
