Les Poissons Marteaux plot

A professional jazz singer gives birth to a mentally retarded girl. Because she is hardly ever at home, she decides to leave her daughter in a specialized institution. Eighteen years later, she decides to visit her daughter again. However, the first acquaintance does not go smoothly, partly because of the handicap and partly because of the years that have passed. Mother-daughter contact gets a resurgence when the hospital forms a rock band. Music brings the two closer together.
