Les Manèges Humains plot
As a child, Sophie emigrated from Africa to Canada. Twenty years later, she has completed film school and is starting her first film. During a summer job at a traveling fairground, the manager asks her to make a promotional film. She records everything: even things that have nothing to do with the fair. Her camera records candid conversations with friends and colleagues. She also appears in front of the camera herself and tells about a painful secret from her childhood. The promotional film about the fair quickly turns into an open video diary, which proves to be an important step for Sophie in processing the traumatic event she experienced as a four-year-old girl in her native Africa.
