Les Lumières du Soir plot
Mrs. Hessler, an ex-dancer, lives with her daughter Catherine. She dedicates her life to raising the girl and hopes that later in life she will have a successful career, which she herself had to give up after an accident. Her husband left for America where he became known in an organization of choreographic performances. But he doesn't speak much and sends almost no money. His daughter is furious that he just abandoned them. Catherine succeeds in her career as an opera singer, but her mother finds herself out of work after the bank where she works went bankrupt. In need of money and at their wits' end, Catherine finally agrees to dance in a questionable cabaret.
