Les Chemins de l'Oued plot
French-Algerian Sam panics and kills a Parisian cop. When he confesses this to his parents, overcome with guilt, his mother sends him as soon as possible to her family in Algeria. Sam, who considers himself a Parisian and does not speak a word of Arabic, feels like an outsider on his ailing grandfather's farm. The old man hopes that his 'new' grandson will take over the farm with the exhausted wadis, the old wells. That Sam is not the only one trying to keep his secrets is clear when he meets his cousin Issam and especially his beautiful cousin Nadia.
