Le Jardin de Papa plot
Jean and Marie, a newlywed French couple, go on a honeymoon to Africa, where Jean lived as a boy. On their way from the airport to the hotel, their taxi hits a child who is injured. Bystanders blame the cab driver and the white couple, and they are threatened by an angry mob, riled up by occasional gang leader Cobra. They barely escape and hide in the house of a young woman, Kapinga. In the anxious night that the foursome are forced to spend together, Jean turns out to be a convinced racist. The previously infatuated Marie loses her naivety when she suddenly recognizes in him his father, the old settler who regarded Africa as the 'backyard' of France. The situation becomes grim, the house is besieged and the driver is injured.
