An English governor of India, cheated by his wife, presents her with a choice. Either she has her lover accused of embezzlement or his wife is allowed to spend her days as a prostitute in a Moroccan harbor district, with the glorious name "The Street of the Painted Lips". To save her lover, the woman chooses the second.
