La Révolte des Enfants plot

During the industrial revolution there was poverty and famine. A child who stole bread or committed some other minor offense was imprisoned in an educational institution. Such a prison was located in France around 1847 in Brittany. Aumont was director of that institution and he called himself Uncle. His associates and the guards were cousins. The little delinquents thus belonged to one big family. Enlightened staff member Wilms thinks that this juvenile detention center needs some modernization and invites a journalist from Paris, Countess Marie D'Ozeray, to come over. A revolt breaks out over the harsh conditions under which the children have to live, but Aumont suppresses it.
