La Nuit Bengali plot

"Forbidden love... unspoken passion"

Allan (Hugh Grant) is a British engineer based in Calcutta. He is staying with Indira Sen's family. While sick, Allan falls in love with his host's daughter, the beautiful Gayatri (Supriya Pathak). However, the girl is still a teenager and when the family finds out about the romance, he is unceremoniously thrown out of the house. Heartbroken, the engineer returns to Calcutta. One of his friends warns Allan that he should leave the country because a longer stay will bring bad luck.
