Simply a masterpiece!!! Top 10 material.

Waited years to see this movie and am glad it was because it was the right time

This is not a movie for everyone!

And no it's not just a movie made by "hippies on LSD" but rather by someone looking for a deeper view of life!

Jodorowsky wanted to make a film with the power of LSD, without taking the drug. And this worked out pretty well, because when I gave the movie to a friend he came to thank me the next because this was one of the best movies he'd ever seen, maybe THE BEST movie, a hallucinatory experience.

The film is based on Saint John's "Ascent of Mount Carmel" and especially on "The Cross and Mount Analogue" by René Daumal a student of [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Gurdjieff]Gurdjieff[/ url] (which is also very highly regarded by me).

from an interview with Jodrowsky "... the world we are living, it's not the real world –– it's under construction, made by our limited mind. But the world does not have these limits that we are giving to him. We are not living in reality; we are living in a kind of dream, and this dream needs to be finished because we are coming to the end of one way to think. now."

Totally agree!

The Alchemist: "We began in a fairytale and we came to life, but is this life reality? No. It is a film. Zoom back camera. We are images, dreams, photographs. We must not stay here. Prisoners! We shall break the illusion. This is magic! Goodbye to the Holy Mountain. Real life awaits us."

The first film I saw from director Alejandro Jodorowsky. Special introduction. 'The Holy Mountain' is a series of rarities and at times quite interesting. Overall, though, I didn't think it was that strong. Jodorowsky's intentions may have been grand and profound, but the end result definitely doesn't feel that way. Lots of pretentious posturing and easy scoring with as many bizarre scenes as possible. But nice to see once. Although 'El Topo' seems better to me.

I don't have the faintest idea what I've been watching, but that doesn't matter. My first Jodorowsky and it is immediately clear that this is an artist through and through. Everything that should be normal in your brain (blood = red etc) Jodorowsky throws in the trash and fills it in in his own curious way. Visually one of the most special films I have seen!
