La Lumière des Étoiles Mortes plot

In June 1940, the beautiful château - 300 km from Paris - where Pierre lives with his wife Magdeleine and their nine-year-old son Charles, was requisitioned by the Germans. A strange situation arises. On the one hand a French family with two servants and a Jewish governess, on the other hand the German occupier. The boy befriends one of the Wehrmacht soldiers, the mild-mannered Corporal Karl, who speaks French, until he is called up to serve on the Eastern Front (the Soviet Union). Through his letters, the boy is confronted with the terrible atrocities of the war in Russia.
