La Couleur des Mots plot
Marie has dysphasia. Her mother tongue is almost as foreign to her as any unknown language. It feels like everyone is whizzing by on the communication highway and Marie is standing on the sidelines with breakdown. A series of encounters makes clear how big the gap is between Marie and the rest of the world due to the lack of language. It's not just the stigma of being different that creates isolation. Other obstacles also push her into loneliness: her child is taken from her, she has to contend with unemployment and alcohol and, despite her mask of aggressiveness and pride, she has a vain hunger for love.
