Kokotsu no Hito plot

The Tachibana family consists of; 84-year-old Shigezou, his son Nobutoshi and wife Akiko and their son, Satoshi. They all live together. Since Shigezou's old wife passed away, his senility gradually intensifies, and he now fails to recognize the face of his betrothed daughter Atsuko. In fact, the same goes for the face of his son Nobutoshi, who he sometimes thinks is a burglar, with dramatic consequences. These sudden hot flashes often take place in the middle of the night lately, severely affecting Akiko. She decides to consult lawyer Fujieda, from the law firm where a friend of hers works. But Fujieda manages to inform her that in Shigezou's case the only option is to put him in isolation in a mental institution because of his age and mental condition…
