The first phone call, briefly bringing news of a family member’s death, abruptly thrusts Lana into a world of danger and uncertainty. With each subsequent call, Lana becomes painfully aware of the growing destabilization around her, as family members die and friends flee amid the violent fall of the former Yugoslavia.
