Josselyn's Wife plot
Ellen Latimer meets artist Gibbs Josselyn at a party where she is ignored. After falling in love and marrying, they move to Europe, where Gibbs is finishing his art studies, resenting the young, frivolous wife of his father, Thomas, an architect. Five years later, Gibbs having made a name for himself, they return, responding to Thomas's plea to see his grandson, Tommy. In their Long Island home, Thomas and Tommy quickly become good friends, while Gibbs falls prey to his philandering stepmother, Lillian, much to Ellen's chagrin.
