In the Belly of a Tiger plot
A tiger wreaks havoc in an Indian village. Deaths are increasing, but the tigers are protected. Because farmers are not allowed to hunt them, they demand and receive compensation from the government. The tiger's life is now worth more than theirs. An elderly couple, who have recently returned to the village with their son and two granddaughters, now own only their house and the bull, after selling their land to try their luck in the city. The only thing they have to offer now is their labor, which leaves them open to blackmail like everyone else in the village.
