Anthology of five short stories that delve into the complexities of gender issues and follow characters on the brink of life-defining moments, whether by choice or circumstance. 1) Period: Like many of her classmates at her underprivileged school, Fay can’t afford menstrual products, so she embarks on a crusade to obtain them for free. 2) Alta: A defiant teen who refuses to leave the bathroom forces her helpless father to seek help to talk the girl into seeing sense, but things take a turn when their true relationship is revealed. 3) Maré: A mother on the edge of her sanity seeks solace from a tumultuous life situation. 4) Kifungo - An aspiring romantic struggles with self-acceptance after discovering she is HIV-positive. 5) Aféfé: When her elderly and ailing mother-in-law unexpectedly moves in with her, a passionate beautician’s life takes a terrifying turn.
