Il Maestro plot

Walter (Malcolm McDowell) is a young Jewish talented future conductor who goes into hiding in a northern Italian monastery during the war and is left with Romualdi (Charles Aznavour), an annoying third-rate musician. When a woman, Dolores (Andréa Ferréol), comes into play, deep subcutaneous frictions arise. During the liberation, Walter manages to persuade the American liberators to put Romualdi on a transport to the south of Italy, in order to get rid of his rival.
