Ibuku plot

Sumiati was a popular Jatilan dancer in her youth, but now she lives alone as a widow. After her husband went bankrupt due to gambling and committed suicide, leaving her with nothing but his debts, Sumiati finds herself forced to marry off her only daughter, Sri, to pay off the debts. However, she cannot protect Sri from a violent, alcoholic son-in-law, and Sri flees the country to work abroad as a migrant worker. There, she is abused by her employer, commits murder, and is sentenced to death.
