"Coach learns to pray after losing his son"

At an Alabama high school, dozens of boys compete for one scholarship. This creates a hostile atmosphere on campus and in the already desolate town. Student Rachel can't stand it any longer. She enlists the help of longtime football coach Buster, who retired years ago after a tragic loss. He wants to get back into sport and school, but is clearly not yet coming to terms with himself and the past. Elvis Jackson, one of the best athletes on the team, is very selfish as a person and as a football player. For him, sport is the means to land the much-coveted scholarship, and he will do anything for it. He soon gets into a fight with coach Buster...
