What a beautiful movie. A drama about domestic violence and a divorce that is well shot, with excellent performances by everyone. You can almost feel Sandra's fear and trauma as a viewer and the soundtrack is nice and fits this film perfectly.

As an actress, Clare Dunne was rejected everywhere because she has a birthmark under her left eye. It shows willpower that she therefore herself wrote the screenplay for an independent production. She herself plays the leading role and the birthmark is incorporated in it. She took inspiration from personal experiences, but it is fiction. The Irish accent, the austere style and the natural environment enhance the feeling that you are on the emerald island. The limited budget is more than offset by the enthusiasm of herself and the two child actors.

A woman flees partner violence, but refuses to accept the role of victim. Some flashbacks show the problems from her past. Building a house is also a metaphor for taking up one's own life again, taking your destiny into your own hands. In a literal sense, building a house is much more difficult than the commercial suggests and would probably cost at least twice as much as planned. For a moment I feared a predictable happy ending, but then they have to deal with some unexpected setbacks. There is an us-against-the-world feeling.

Film about intimate partner violence. Not the first about this sad aspect of family life, convincingly told and performed with some striking scenes such as this one in which the little daughter witnesses the extreme violence that her mother undergoes.

Is also the story of a very courageous woman who does everything for her children and remains combative through the setbacks.

A recurring consideration when viewing such films is the realization of how difficult and delicate it is for a judge to correctly assess the event, not least because of the actions of those involved (appearance, apparent credibility, assertiveness) and of the lawyers who like to take facts out of context in order to present the case unilaterally.
