"An aristocratic Englishwoman, an Australian horseman and a young boy on a journey towards the exciting but forbidden world of adults."

The seriously ill Alan has only one dream, to become as good a rider as East (Russel Crowe), his hero. Nothing can stop that dream. He falls in love with Grace, but she sees more in the male East. Alan is confronted with the secret of social taboos, the injustice of the death of a close friend and the demise of his hero, but despite everything, he continues to fight and discovers that he too has a unique talent.
