Hallaq Darb Al-Fouqara plot
Miloud is a barber in Darb el-Soltane, an old proletarian neighborhood in Casablanca, struggling to maintain a semblance of dignity. Life has dealt his friend Hmida hard blows. He is a boy who moved from the countryside to the city after his father rejected him. He turned to petty theft to survive, for which he served a sentence in prison. Hmida is unemployed and still rambunctious, while Miloud is skittish and discouraged by his friend's reprehensible activities. When a wealthy entrepreneur who wields power in the area manages to evict the barber and his wife from the shop to build a center for teaching the Quran, Hmida urges his friend to fight back.
