Guria plot

In the impoverished region of Guria in Western Georgia, progress following the fall of the Soviet Union in the 1990s has not yet found its way. The inhabitants fight for their daily survival with inexhaustible ingenuity. The nut farmer Zuriko has no wife, but he does have debts. His best friend Gela keeps trying to set him up, but not a single woman meets his mother-in-law's requirements. His teenage son Achi is hopelessly in love with Erka, but she has set her sights on Beso. While father and son occupy themselves with their love lives, life in Guria goes on as usual, and all the inhabitants try to hold their own with clever tricks, humor, and music.
