Six weeks before the elections for the United States House of Representatives (which are held at the same time as the Presidential elections), the incumbent congressman dies of a heart attack. It looks like Senator Peter Kane [Ray Wise] will take the seat unopposed, but he had not counted on the pious preacher David Hill [David AR White] as a protector of Christian values. Political consultant Lottie Jay [Samaire Armstrong] persuades David with difficulty to run and takes on the role of campaign manager. This gives her the chance to settle a score with her arch-rival John Wesley [Scott Baio], who is running Peter Kane's campaign. White (the name says it all) is colorless and unconvincing and the religious rhetoric is dubious to say the least, but this is mainly intended to persuade the many Christians who did not vote in the previous elections to vote. There is nothing wrong with that message and the cynicism about politicians is certainly not unfounded. With the help of relirockers 'Newsboys', Null pulls out all the stops to whip up viewers. Those outside the target audience will hardly be able to sit through this. For the target audience, however, this is quite effective propaganda.
