Glück auf Kredit plot

Ida (Inge Meysel) lends money to gambling addicts at usurious rates. One day an old baron from whom she received money dies and she steals a painting from his house in 'retaliation'. It turns out to be worth a lot of money and after many years, when Ida is now an elderly woman, she regrets what she has done and uses the money that the painting made to help other people. Then suddenly a niece of the old baron is at the door, who has tracked down Ida and wants the painting back...
