Gli Angeli del Quartiere plot

Five orphans named Virgola, Carnera, Sonna, Ta-Ta and Il Capo, whose parents lost their lives in the bombing during the war, live together in the basement of a ruined house, which is guarded by an old doorman. One day, a brittle stone in a brick wall opens a hole through which the smallest of the boys, Virgola, can crawl. In the previously unknown room he finds a number of tubes, all filled with bank notes of 1000 lire. How should the boys deal with their newfound wealth? After all, they can't spend money without someone learning about their find...
