Joseph is one of Jacob's twelve sons and his father's favorite descendant. He gets a multicolored cloak from his father and that causes him to become estranged from his brothers. They are sad because they don't wear ostentatious men's clothes themselves and they become jealous. They decide to get rid of Joseph. They ambush him and throw him into a well. When a caravan of slave drivers passes by, they decide to sell Joseph to them.
