Three freebooters travel through the deep south of the United States. They are arrested by racist police officers. However, the two men are murdered and the remaining woman is thrown into prison. She ends up in a so-called 'Chain Gang': a system in which the prisoners are chained together while they work outside. She is the only white person chained to the dark male convicts.
