Gemini: The Twin Stars plot

"Nothing is ever the End of the World."

Matthew McLaren lives a carefree life as a student in New York. However, his friend, who is a drug dealer, is unexpectedly shot dead by the narcotics squad. Matthew becomes involved in this, suddenly turning his whole life into that of a fearful refugee. Desperate, he tries to escape and ends up in Switzerland. He is not safe there, because an international manhunt is soon organized. Meanwhile, Matthew plunges into a relationship with the aristocratic Maria Helena Buffington. He befriends Thomas Fassler, a young Swiss farmer who looks up to him as a tough worldly adventurer.
