The 18-year-old Susanne is a craftswoman in a textile factory and very hardworking and conscientious. She enjoys great recognition in her labor collective, but no one is really interested in her young self as a woman. She is simply not viewed as a woman by the men's world. Lutz, whom she already knew as a child and whom she fell in love with, apparently has not even noticed that Susanne has grown into a grown woman. When even her friend Daisy treats her ruthlessly, Susanne has had enough. She begins to stand up for herself and defend her own interests. Until she finally succeeds in conquering Lutz.
