Erika Angermann's family is killed in an air raid. She helps American officer Foster MacLain escape the Gestapo and must then find a way to evade a group of Russian military occupiers, led by Colonel Dmitri Bucaron. Erika manages to flee to the American sector in Berlin and out of naivety registers herself as a prostitute, thus arousing the interest of the German officer Hugo Von Metzler. Hugo loves Erika for what he thinks she is and Foster loves her because he knows who Erika is.
