The story of the American pilot Francis Gary Powers who was sent on a spy mission and had to work above the territory of the Soviet Union to photograph military objects there. He did this at the behest of the CIA, but they didn't have long to take advantage of the work he was doing. On May 1, 1960, he was shot down with his U2 spy plane and captured by the Russians.
