Marta Raquel Estevan grows up in the religious environment of the monastery. Her guardian asks her to marry his son Rafael Artega. She agrees, but finds to her disappointment that Rafael leads a riotous life. In addition, Marta falls in love with American Keith Bryton, whom she lovingly nurses after being attacked by Native Americans.
