Fiorile plot
Two hundred years ago, Napoleon's troops marched through Italy. One of the soldiers, Jean, is tasked with guarding a huge chest of gold pieces. Jean is young, handsome, idealistic and dutiful. But he forgets the latter when he meets Elisabetta Benedetti. He calls her Fiorile and becomes so absorbed in her that he neglects his duties. When his cash box turns out to be stolen, his commander can do nothing but sentence Jean to death. The sentence will not be carried out if the thief presents himself within twenty-four hours.
